WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE?
As the sun peeks over the rugged cliffs of Cornwall, a sense of anticipation fills the air. To take advantage of this, we’ll photograph from sunrise until sunset every day.
Morning: Sunrise Shoot
The day begins early before the rest of the world awakens. We’ll set off to a secluded cove where the first light of dawn paints the sky in hues of pink and gold. Against the backdrop of crashing waves and towering cliffs, participants practice capturing the perfect shot, experimenting with composition and exposure settings to convey the serenity of the moment.
Mid-Morning: Coastal Hike
With cameras in hand, we’ll embark on a leisurely coastal hike along the South West Coast Path. Winding pathways reveal hidden treasures: ancient stone formations, colourful wildflowers clinging to the cliffs, and panoramic vistas of the sparkling sea below. Along the way, I’ll offer tips on how to frame landscapes effectively and find unique perspectives to make your photographs stand out.
Lunch Break: Picnic by the Sea
Nestled on a grassy bluff overlooking the ocean, we’ll pause for a well-deserved lunch break where we can share stories and compare our favourite shots from the morning, these lunches are a great way to gather some camaraderie among fellow photographers.
Afternoon: Village Exploration
The afternoon brings a change of scenery as the workshop ventures into one of Cornwall's charming fishing villages. Cobblestone streets wind past pastel-coloured cottages, bustling harbours, and quaint storefronts filled with handmade crafts. Participants are encouraged to focus on capturing the essence of village life and the timeless beauty of the coastal architecture.
Golden Hour: Sunset Shoot
As evening approaches, we’ll reconvene at a picturesque lookout point to witness the magic of the golden hour. Bathed in soft, warm light, the rugged cliffs and crashing waves take on an ethereal quality. Against this stunning backdrop, we’ll experiment with long exposures and silhouette techniques, striving to capture the fleeting beauty of the fading sun.
Evening: Image Review and Feedback
As darkness descends, we’ll gather once more to review the day's photographs. Under my guidance, each participant is encouraged to share their favourite images and receive constructive feedback. Through this collaborative process, you’ll gain new insights into unique styles and techniques, and be inspired to continue honing your craft long after the workshop ends.
